Camera and Lens Test in Old Town Temecula (7D and 70-200 IS 2.8 MKII)

I Know, I know…I have neglected my blog in recent days. Well, I just had to tell someone about the last couple of weeks! I have been in desperate need of a new backup camera as my old Canon 20D was a little worse for wear. When I am shooting with Paula, it isn’t a big deal because between us, we have like 4 cameras. But when I am off shooting by myself, the 20D had just become too unreliable. So I took the plunge and decided to purchase the Canon 7D as a backup to my 5D MK II. I had no idea it was going to perform so well that I think I like it just as well! The ONLY drawback I see to it is that it has a cropped frame sensor while my MK II is a full frame. (That is actually a plus when it comes to ring shots because it gets me closer to the action). While Canon was issueing instant rebates, I decided to also pick up the newest version of my Canon 70-200 IS 2.8 lens. Now you must understand, my older version of this lens has always been my favorite lens. It is just yummy! So I couldn’t understand how it could be much better. This lens is amazingly fast focussing and the pictures are truly beautiful! I could not be happier with my purchases, though my pocketbook is empty! So this week I went on facebook to try to find someone willing to help me test them out. My BEAUTIFUL friend and worship team partner came to my rescue! We had a great time running around Old Town Temecula together shooting pics. Here are a few.  Thanks Tanisha!

Harveston Lake

Harveston Lake has become one of my favorite locations for family shoots. It is beautiful with lots of shade for lovely images. I shot the Bullocks daughters headshots about a year ago and had a marvelous time. This shoot was the whole family and it is a great famiy indeed! Here are a few images.

Wedding in Corona

Sometimes you meet someone and something special happens…it is a moment of recognition as though you have known them forever. I cannot explain why this happens or what causes it, but I love the experience. This was true with this entire family. We shot Sue and Jim’s wedding a couple of years ago and I was beyond thrilled when they called us to shoot Erica’s wedding because this family is one of those special families that touch your heart and change your life through the friendship. The bride was amazingly beautiful and such a happy day for a very unique family. Her cake top was so cute and she said her Grandma used to say “you have to kiss a lot of frogs to find your prince”. Well, Erica has found her prince! Congratulations to Erica and Jared!

Horses and Brides!

What is it with the ranch weddings this month! We shot another LOVELY wedding at the SummerWind Ranch in Apple Valley CA and Karen and Bradley looked amazing. Karen rode in on a paint horse that was so gentle and sweet through the whole ordeal. She even gave the horse a big smooch! Then the next day we did a day after shoot in Laguna Beach. It is always such a beautiful place and my favorite place to shoot! Congrats to Bradley and Karen, the new Lopez family!

Wedding at the RideStar Ranch, Corona, CA

Wow! Mattie and Patrick are such fun and the RideStar Ranch in Corona was the place to be last Saturday night! Not only do they know how to party and how to eat, they also know how to put together a beautiful wedding. A gorgeous bride and a handsome groom don’t hurt matters any and add a few cowboy hats and boots and you’ve got yourself a hitchin’! Congrats to this special and very charming couple.
